Relaxing
Let's start with relaxing (ok, and swimming). It is holiday after all! The best place to start is the swimming lake in See. The large, natural pool has surprisingly comfortable water temperatures. There is plenty of sunbathing space on the grass around the lake. Younger and older families will have plenty to do at and around this 'mountain beach'. Read a book, play tennis, jumping and swimming in the lake or take a nap. Alternatively, or rather in addition, there is an outdoor swimming pool in Ischgl. Indoor pools are available, and open in summer as well.
Going up the mountain is also an interesting option, not only to be active. Both in See and Kappl at the top of the cable cars there is a place to sit back, and enjoy the views. For children there are playgrounds and adventure parks. Similarly in Ischgl there is several places to explore, although a light hike is required. Cable cars are free with the Silvretta Basic Summer Card that is included with your stay at our chalet (1 ride per day).
Recommended with children is a trip to the Alpine Coaster in Imst (c. 30 mins drive). A lot of fun, and several activities there for children of all ages, include a playground, a small zoo and e-trail bike riding.
For a day trip, consider renting a boat in Bregenz (c. 1.5hr drive) to explore lake Bodensee, or a bit further away lake Walensee in Switzerland.
Don't forget to take a trip to Innsbruck (c. 1.15hr drive) for a day in the city! Shopping, culture, there is lot's to do in Innsbruck.
If you like driving around to enjoy views and explore Tirol, then there are several mountain passes worth driving. At the end of the Paznaun valley there is the Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse, a tour that can be completed well within half a day. For longer trips, the Lechtal or the Timmelsjoch are highly recommended. With a motorcycle license, it is possible to rent motorcycles in Ischgl.
Our chalet has plenty of space to relax as well. Whether you hang out inside, in the sauna or on one of the terraces, you will find a way to slow down and enjoy our amenities. Stock up in one of the nearby supermarkets, and enjoy long outdoor breakfasts, lunches, barbecues and dinners from the comfort of your own holiday home.
Hiking and biking
This is probably what comes to mind first when you think about summer in the mountains. The options are (almost) unlimited, and definitely suitable to all ages! For equipment, there are several sport shops in each town to rent everything you need for a day in the mountains. For families with (young) children there are (safe) (e-)biking options, whether you require small (e-)bikes or a bicycle trailer. Available routes vary from short to long, and from casual to technical. Go at it yourself or take a guided tour. In the Paznaun valley alone there are over a 1,000 kilometers of hiking trails and 750 kilometers of biking trails.
Plan a trip to one of the valleys iconic mountain huts to enjoy a well-deserved break.
